My students need individual headphones that they can keep in their desks. In addition, our classroom needs a storage and charging station for our tablets which were generously donated earlier this year.

My Students
I teach fourth grade at a Northern California school. We are a Title One school that supports a diverse group of children from various ethnic backgrounds. The majority of our students are English Language Learners, and many come from socio-economic disadvantaged families. Sixty-nine percent of our students qualify for free and reduced breakfast and lunch.
Although many of my students come from families living at or below the poverty level they are an outstanding group of children.
They are serious and excited about learning, they contribute to requests for school supplies when possible, and they are kind and thoughtful to each other.
My Project
My students need individual headphones that they can use during our technology time. Students have access to Chromebooks and iPads for up to 50% of each day. Certain lessons are self paced and geared to the student's own ability. At these times, it is necessary that each student is able to hear what they are working on. In this age of technology, these tools are a necessity at school.
We are more and more dependent on technology and when students have their own headphones they can work more independently and with less distractions, no matter what the subject.
When wearing headphones, the overall classroom environment becomes more peaceful and a calm falls upon the entire group.
The storage and charging station will allow our classroom tablets to be more organized and well charged, so that they can be used for research and Accelerated Reader quizzes while another class shares the Chromebooks.
