I teach a diverse group of thirty-two students who arrive at school daily full of energy and eager to learn. The majority of my students are second language learners who speak their native language at home. In many cases, my students do not have books at home that they can read and they rely completely on my classroom library or the school library to supply them with reading materials. Our school is a Title One school and this year we have approximately 69% of our 400 student body that receives free and reduced price breakfasts and lunches.
