This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach English Language Learners. These students are required to take a test called WIDA to monitor their language growth. They are tested on reading, listening, writing, and speaking. This is not an easy test and we take it really early in the year, in fact we only have a few more weeks to prepare. The outcomes of the test determine whether or not a student still needs additional services.
Students who do not pass before entering high school are less likely to graduate.
That is why this test is high stakes.. Despite preparing all year, my students will be nervous. I am requesting a few items to calm their nerves throughout the testing sessions.
