Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

It is truly astounding the number of students who consume their only meals at school. At my school, breakfast is provided for all students and 90% of students qualify for free and reduced-price lunch. Many of my students struggle with poverty and food insecurity. It is heart breaking.

This project will allow me to have some healthy and substantial snacks on hand that my students can keep in their backpacks or eat at school.

Having these snacks available for my students in the school counseling office is very helpful and supportive. In addition, when they are not hungry during the day, they are able to better focus and engage in their learning in class.
