My Project

First graders have the ability to wonder about the world around them and giving them the captivating resources to allow them to develop their reading skills to their fullest potential is the goal of every teacher.

What better way for first graders to learn about the world, than through leveled texts that are at their independent reading level?

Much of reading instruction in first grade is related to the Science of Reading. The main focus is on phonics, decoding, and phonemic awareness. The nonfiction books that are being requested in this project are at a variety of first grade reading levels and interests. First grade students will read these books in person during reading groups, independent reading and during direct instruction. These books were also chosen because they align with the state reading standards for teaching nonfiction text features, identifying the main topic and the key details of a passage. First graders love to learn to read. We would be thrilled to have the opportunity to use these books to watch our No Nonsense, Nonfiction Firsties grow!
