My Students

My students are from economically disadvantaged school. Over 76% of my kids receive free or reduced meals. Even as they struggle to prepare for their futures without the benefit of a strong financial background my kids are outstanding in their desire to learn. Students love to engage in hands on STEM activities in science. My kids are always excited when they enter class and see material laid out that is ready for hands on experiences. My kids are bright, energetic, fun-loving exceptional kids that are a pleasure to have in my life.

My Project

My class is equipped with desks we bought from a "junk" store. Desk are slanted. Science experiments and activities are often ruined because of things being knocked over or spills. My students love hand on STEM-Type activities but it is very hard to plan safe activities because of the danger of accidents during the activities. The tables I am requesting will allow us to remove all the desks then place nice flat tables in the classroom to use for hands-on activities. The number of activities will be able to be increased and the students engagement will escalate. I will not worry as much about a student getting hurt while engaging in an activity with a flat, wide surface to keep material organized.
