No More Lousy Science Labs!

Help me give my students most of the supplies they will need for all the amazing labs and class activities in Anatomy and Physiology, Forensic Science and Biology classes!

My Project

The supplies and materials I am requesting are for all my science classes. I teach in a small, rural, public school with a high percentage of low-income families. These supplies will help make their learning more meaningful with hands-on labs and activities.

All of my science classes, Anatomy and Physiology, Forensic Science and Biology, will benefit from these supplies.

In Anatomy and Physiology we will use clear cups to learn about homeostasis while trying to keep Homer alive. We will make models of bones and study fractures with cardstock paper. We will learn about fingerprints with ink pads. We will make models of muscles and neurons. We will use balloons and the pulse-ox to study lung capacity. And so much more!

In Forensics we will work through mock crime scenes, dust for fingerprints, and collect evidence samples in zip baggies. We will use blacklights to look for traces of blood and body fluids. We will collect insects that are commonly found in crime scenes and look at them under the microscope. We will take cultures, look at fingerprints, study blood splatter, and so much more!

In Biology we will make examples of ATP with cardstock paper. We will learn about the scientific method and engineering design process using straws and cups and pennies to build towers. We will take samples around the school and watch things grow on the petri dishes. We will make dissecting models on cardstock before going to lab and dissecting an actual specimen. We will look at baggies full of "stuff" and try to determine the stomach contents while learning about macromolecules. And so much more!
