FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Ofstie's classroom raised $159
This project is fully funded
Hi! I am a 6th grade English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher in a very poor area of Brooklyn, NY. My students come from various countries throughout the world, such as Haiti, Panama, Mexico, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, and Bangladesh. Many times throughout the year, we complete projects by typing on the laptops that my school has. However, not all of the laptops have floppy disk drives, and the internet doesn't work on many of them. That makes it impossible to store any word processing data on a disk in order to print it. The last time I used the laptops, several students could not save their work onto a disk at the end of the period and could not e-mail their work to themselves, so their data was lost. This has rendered a couple of the laptops useless when it comes to word processing, and we are in a crunch to provide all the students with a functioning laptop. For that reason, I am requesting a SanDisk Cruzer USB drive from Office Depot.
This is a device that functions like a floppy disk, but no disk drive is required. You just plug it into one of the computer's USB ports and save the work. This would make it simple to save all of the student's work and print it from any computer. It would also mean that all of the available laptops could be put to use, since the problem of the disk drives will be solved and all students will be on-task with a laptop in front of them. It would definitely be used many many times for this spring semester and in years to come. Please help us save our work and not lose any more data. The sixth graders and I thank you!!!
