This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

ASTEC is an inner city school with a diverse population of 97% poverty.

My students are a fascinating group of curious, enthusiastic, and hard-working inner-city high school students from all kinds of backgrounds and family situations.

They are a joy to teach, and they love to create and explore their creativity. They amaze me and themselves every day.

Dawn by Elie Wiesel is the sequel to Night that describes the reality of the Holocaust, and the preservation of human dignity amidst severe adversity. survival and what that means for one's own faith.

Dawn is an eloquent meditation for the study of themes across texts related to the compromises, justifications, and sacrifices that human beings make at the cost of other human beings. Students will make connections to Night and analyze and evaluate these themes across texts through project based learning.
