My Project

I am the librarian for a large elementary school filled with creative, fun kids who like to read.

They come from a variety of socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, but in the library, they share excitement over new books.

According to KidsCount, 43% of students in our district are eligible for free and reduced lunch – 7 out of 15 elementary schools are Title I – and 15% receive special education services. Many students cannot get to the public library, so their checkouts at the school library are their main access to books.

I love when a book finds a champion, and word-of-mouth leads to a long holds list. I love it when kids ask if they can do a book recommendation before I start a lesson. I love it when a student who isn’t necessarily a voracious reader perks up when they hear about a book their peer loves and then comes to me later to ask for it.

Which brings me to this request. The kids LOVE series, and many of them want to read every book in order. However, many popular series have released volumes that we don’t yet have in our collection, so the kids have hit roadblocks in their quests to be completists.

Can you please help add books that my kids are looking for? My readers will be so excited! Thank you!
