Help me give my students current events via the use of Scholastic magazines.

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I ask them how they're doing and squeeze them tight because so many of them don't receive a kind word or hug when they leave home daily. I want them to know that I love to care for, and believe in them when they walk through the doors of my classroom.
I'm a teacher in NV and my students come from one of the lower-income areas, but my students income situation doesn't keep them from striving to be the best that they can be.
I want them to know, not just believe, that they can conquer the world and any task they set their minds to. As we study Social Studies I want them to garner the most knowledge about this subject, as they realize that people and things have some of the same similarities and differences that others in the world have.
In a world where history is made on a daily basis Scholastic Magazines helps capture and bring current events into my classroom on a level that my scholars can digest and comprehend better. The use of these magazines will help me bring current events into my Social Studies classroom daily for my Middle School Scholars.
Textbooks are great, but are limited to history and not current events.
While History books are great for learning the past, Scholastic brings the present into my classroom. The combination of the old and new makes for a better learning experience. My scholars comprehension of Social Studies and Current Events has thrived since I incorporated Scholastic Magazines into my curriculum.
