I teach 40 fabulous 4th graders who push me every day to give and teach them more and more beyond what their textbooks and the walls of their school offer. Their love for Math and Science pushes me to take them higher academically, and that's exactly what I want to do. With these things in mind, I want to push them as high as the stars academically, but I lack several resources that will help them excel academically. I want my students to grow to become Gates Scholars and Mensa students, and I let them know daily that they can be those and more despite the circumstances that plague their communities, but I lack several things necessary to place them on the correct pathway. My school services students in an urban setting, several of which live below the poverty line. I've read the city where my school is located described as a city where dreams die. I want my students to know that their dreams will live.
