My Students

Our students are spirited kids who come to school excited and ready to learn new things to help better themselves and their future. Our area is densely populated with low income families, which results in a good majority of our students coming from homes where parents work multiple jobs. Our students love learning about and exploring new places and things they are not familiar with. Due to the low income aspect, where families are just barely making ends meet, there are not a lot of opportunities for them to explore in real life and the access they have to materials to read and explore things is here at school.

My Project

This school year our school is focusing on grade level collaboration and making sure all students in the same grade get the same education and master the same knowledge. Having a grade level set of Scholastic News will garuntee that all of our 3rd grade students will learn the same information on the same subjects. It will also garuntee that all students will get to take home a copy of each issue, which will encourage reading and further exploration at home. We love that Scholatic News has informational pieces that have topics that students are excited to read and connect to.
