My students are a lively bunch of kids who have a wide variety of interests, but one thing they all have in common is their love for listening to stories. They all love the adventures we get to go on through reading books, but at this point in the school year very few of them are fluent readers, which makes them dependent on someone else in order to go on these adventures. As a whole, our school shows a love for learning and reading. Throughout each day we have at least 3 hours built into our schedules that are dedicated solely to language arts and reading in hopes that we can instill a love for these subjects into each and every student.
