Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As an English as a new language teacher, I am always looking for different ways to show my students all the growth and progress they have made. This year, my Newcomers and English Language learners have expressed their love for reading and writing because of all the wonderful books I have been provided with through Donorschoose.

That is why I would love to help my students write, draw and publish their own hardcover storybooks.

With the materials I am requesting, students will be able to take a story that they have worked on, and edit, revise and translate it so they can publish it in English and their home language. These books will then be added to my class library so that future students can be inspired.

Using the pages of the blank hardcover story books, students will have the liberty to let their imagination go wild as they draw their cover art and illustrations. The vibrant colors of the acrylic markers will make their art stand out. The clear contact paper will be used to seal in the cover so that other students can read and admire them.
