My students need new classroom supplies- a carpet, markers, headphones and such- for the new year to replace our well used and damaged classroom materials.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
A comfortable learning environment along with all of the needed learning supplies is something that every kindergarten student should have.
I teach a group of highly active kindergarten students in a high-crime, low-income neighborhood.
The graduation rate in the neighborhood is below 50%. Providing these young students with the best learning environment, including new supplies, will help to create a strong and healthy relationship with education.
My Project
The supplies included in this project will help to make the classroom a more comfortable learning environment. Our current rug is very stained and much too small for the students to sit and learn comfortably. Our supply of dry erase markers is depleted and we use them everyday to practice writing and math. Our current calendar is very worn out, with a new calendar the students can enjoy reporting the date to the rest of the class. Laminating pouches run out so quickly, we can laminate our students masterpieces more easily when we have a ready supply in the classroom.
The project will help to keep my students more comfortable during classroom lessons.
Having an ample amount of necessary supplies allows me to not have to make the students share. Sharing dry erase markers during our math lesson makes the lesson twice as hard, for both me and my students. These supplies will help my classroom to run more smoothly, to be more organize, to become more comfortable, in turn helping to make lessons be more effective.
