The students at my school are whip smart, resoundingly curious, and resoundingly creative. They are in love with the natural world and want to learn as much as they possibly can. As sixth and seventh graders, they are also working on learning classroom responsibility and maturity which are two traits I am working hard to foster and develop in them. They are kind, imaginative, and above all, ready and willing to learn. Their intense creativity never ceases to amaze me!
My Project
This is my first year of teaching middle school, and we are almost two months in now. Middle school is definitely where I am supposed to be teaching. One of the major things I have learned so far about my students in this age bracket is that they love to CREATE!
When I assign a new creative project to help us learn about a scientific process, they actually cheer.
This just goes to show that the supplies on my list are integral to fundamental learning. Currently, in 6th grade we are learning about our solar system, and in 7th grade we are learning about organismal relationships. The students will benefit from the markers and construction paper that will allow them to create posters that help bring what they learned to life.
