My school is considered a Title 1 school in Staten Island, New York. Many of the students come from homes who struggle financially and do not have access to technology at home. Technology is becoming a way of life in which my students need to have access in order to succeed. As they enter middle school and high school my students will be expected to have a great deal of knowledge and skills and I truly believe that implementing technology into their learning will build interest and stamina.
My Project
Our students need an environment, where they feel comfortable and confident. Often our students do not come from homes where they are able to enjoy decorating and being organized, this is something we instill in our classroom. Students will often mention how they enjoy the looks of a neat and organized room and how it helps them to feel calm.
This year I was asked to switch rooms and since every classroom is not designed the same I now need some new materials to spruce up the atmosphere.
My new room now has a chalkboard, in which we are not allowed to use chalk, in which I will need to utilize in the best way possible. I have hopes of decorating this space as an inspirational board, with charts and quotes to motivate my students.
