Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I will be teaching Kindergartners. My scholars are English Language Learners from various background with no or limited English proficiency. I would love to welcome my new scholars into a fun and positive learning environment. To make this dream come true, I would love to have some essential items to liven up the classroom.
I would love to brighten up the room with colorful crayon curtains and replace the outdated brown window shade.
Having adjustable curtain rods will help make this process easy. It would also be great to have pencil and desk organizers to organize all the papers, binders and folders. The bright colors of these items will also help brighten up the writing and small group areas.
As kindergartners master their numbers, letter names, letter sounds, CVC words and other important concepts, there are many activities that can be done to check their progress. In whole class lesson and small group instruction, there is a need daily to use dry erase boards and markers. However, there are distractions with students requesting specific color markers or misplacing marker covers. Having LCD Writing Tablets will help avoid these problems and help students focus on their learning.
To make the room more fun and inviting, I would like to have some comfy pillows for the reading corner. It would also be great to have some fun posters for the calm down corner such as emotions chart to help scholars recognize their different emotions. Having fun colorful hanging classroom rules will also help brighten up the classroom.
