New Year, New Literacy Books for Students with Autism!
My students need books to go along with our themes throughout the year, bins to store the books in, and puppets to support their comprehension.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Try preparing themes for students with autism without appropriate books or materials! That is what it is like month after month in my classroom. We have no money for funding and our children are the ones who suffer. My student's are tired of the same old books month after month!
For the past five years I have taught a maximum of 9 students at a time and, next year, I will be almost doubling my numbers!
My classroom size is going up to 15, and I need to be prepared from the first day of school. Having themes planned out means that I need to have books to support my themes throughout the year.
My school is in an inner-city district where most of my students don't have the luxury of reading stories with their parents at home. All of the student's in the district receive free breakfast and lunch and our district certainly doesn't have money to pay for materials for our classrooms.
My Project
These literacy materials will help my student's learn how to read, inspire them to WANT to read, and teach them the foundations of reading and literacy. The puppets will help with their comprehension because they are hands-on, visual supports that help them engage in the stories. The many books I have chosen support the themes I plan on doing throughout the school year, and the bins will help support independence because I will be able to put the books out and have the student's choose their own books they want to read.
Our district has not given us funding for materials in years, and I don't expect that to change this year.
It is only with your support that I have been able to build up my classroom to where it is today. My student's love receiving packages and playing with all the new materials that we get throughout the year! These materials will stay with me for years to come and will help so many students! It is because of you that I am able to effectively teach my little ones.
