My Project
I am requesting a set of ukuleles for my 3rd-grade music classroom. I believe that learning how to play the ukulele will be motivating and engaging for my students. They will learn how to read chord charts to play different chords and they will have fun taking turns accompanying the class while singing songs. They will learn how to read notes on the music staff while fingerpicking simple melodies. Including a ukulele unit will be a great addition to my third-grade music curriculum.
My goal for this project is to allow every third grader at my school the chance to learn how to play the ukulele.
They will learn a minimum of three chords and learn how to pick at least one simple melody. This will provide the foundational skills for them to continue learning more in 4th and 5th grade music. I hope that this will inspire them to continue to play ukulele on their own, or learn another instrument as a lifelong hobby. My students are special because they are all musicians and deserve the best music-learning opportunities that I can give them!
