My Students

My second grade classroom is a place of respect, encouragement, challenge, and discovery. Students spend this year learning the foundation of knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in their education and in life. The students are second graders in a rural North Carolina elementary school. My students are excited to explore literature, to learn about fiction and nonfiction texts, and to expand their capacity for learning using trade books to enrich our knowledge and experience.

We are hungry readers!

My Project

At the start of our school year our class will begin a new adventure into a listening and learning language arts curriculum. To reinforce domain 1 and 2 concepts of this curriculum I would love to have trade books available in our classroom library.

I would love to extend our lessons through the use of authentic literature.

In addition, these trade books would infuse authentic domain-related literature into extension activities during our studies.

I have chosen these titles from the suggested trade book list to reinforce the domain concepts focused on during our study of Fairy Tales and Tall Tales as well as Early Asian Civilizations, India and China.
