This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from bilingual and only Spanish speaking homes. They need so much help with their understanding of phonetic rules. We have had 70 newcomer Spanish speaking students come from El Salvador, Mexico, and Venezuela.
These educational learning materials are needed to reinforce their Spanish and English language reading and writing skill development, as well as make them feel welcomed!
The use of these hands-on books and materials are engaging, exciting, and really effective for the children. The utilization of stamps, books, and center-based games is so effective for this young age group.
Hands-on materials and their classroom use also encourage sharing behaviors, turn taking skills, and overall social and emotional development.
