Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the rare and awesome opportunity to provide students in a lower economic area with an education that emphasized the use of technology to face the world in silicon valley. I have many different activities that I want to share with them but find it hard with only an overhead projector.
I teach on the East Side of town in a very impoverished area.
My school is dominated by minority students most of which receive free or reduced lunches. My school has a very rare opportunity to bring back most of which has been taken from schools in California such as: music, art, science and technology. However, being this is our first year we do not have many of the materials needed to facilitate a comprehensive program. I would like to share with these children the world wide web and the opportunities it possesses for them. Many do not have a computer at home and school is the only place they have computer access.
My Project
I am at a technology magnet school and feel that I am failing at bringing my students in touch with up to date lessons when I am teaching from a overhead projector that I write on. With a projector I can lead interactive lessons using resources on the Internet and e-books that come with our reading text books. I also want to teach these students how to make and use PowerPoint presentations effectively. In addition I also would like to show the students the resources available for them on the internet and how to interact with other learners around the world.
This school is truly one of a kind.
Now in our first year, we are able to break the mold that has led to the decline of our educational system in California. Our curriculum is complete with enrichment activities that are preparing the students for the ever-changing world ahead of them. Providing exposure to technology in the classroom will help to provide my students with the experience and skills to use tools that will be prevalent everywhere when they begin their careers.
This projector delivers up to 2500 lumens of brightness and features an 800 x 600 SVGA native resolution to bring your presentations to life. Not sure what size projector or screen you need? Learn more.
