My students need books about expressing themselves and how to be a kind citizen. They also need books about being different and coming from different countries. I want to provide a safe and engaging classroom.
As a first year teacher, I am so excited to engage and connect with my students. Each one has their own goals, dreams and hopes. My goal as a teacher is to support them in the journey to reach their goals. My students all come from diverse backgrounds. Some are brand new to the United States and some still feel new. Students at our school come from homes that speak a combined total of 23 different language and we are a district of 78 different languages spoken at home. These students also come from low income households and school can sometimes be the only consistent thing in their life.
My Project
I am a new teacher and I am looking to set up my classroom. I want my room to be a room full of adventure and discovery. These books will help open the student's minds to new possibilities and help create a community within our room. The supplies will make a more manageable and functional classroom. These materials will help students with creating writing ideas and encourage them to read. Having books that can open up their world and see that even though they come from different countries and backgrounds, we are all apart of a community with individual needs.
