Help me give my students every tool they need to succeed in the classroom without adding the extra pressure on low socioeconomic families.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My students are part of the public school system where a vast majority come from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Each day my students come in my classroom with outside challenges in their lives.
What makes my students amazing is that despite these outside challenges they come to class everyday with a focus to excel beyond what is considered average or the norm.
The hunger they have to step up to success and leap towards new heights is inspiring! I wouldn't be writing this if I didn't feel that these students need more than just a stagnant classroom environment. They need a home away from home that will foster a energized environment that isn't rows of chairs and desks.
The project above is the basic necessities needed for the rest of the school year, such as pencils, glue, and folders. These supplies will allow students to have the tools needed to perform in the classroom without the extra burden on low socioeconomic families.
Many activities have students in cooperative learning style groups working on projects.
The supplies will allow zero second thoughts on "I don't have", and focus on what needs to be completed. Often supplies from the start of the year run low by the end of January. Many of these projects that will be using these supplies rely on students' building background knowledge followed by compare and contrasting.
