My students need a table and chairs for the dramatic play area and cube chairs to help them sit and focus throughout teacher-directed learning activities.
My students are from different family backgrounds and have a wide range of abilities, skills, and needs. My students come from low-income families, refugee families or first generation of refugee parents, or typical city homes. This is one of the most effected populations of our school community. With limited school funding, these students deserve a chance to learn and grow in a fun and nuturing environment with in the school community. Early Childhood programs are often forgotten about in school districts.
My Project
I am a new Special Education Teacher working with preschool students with disabilities. The cube chairs will help my students focus and attend to teacher-directed learning activities such as circle time or working with a teacher in small math or literacy groups. Children with disabilities often have a difficult time focusing on the teacher or activity.
The table and chairs set will help develop social skills within our dramatic play area of the classroom.
These pretend play skills are important to begin social interactions such as caring for one another, sharing, taking turns, and learning what it is like to be part of a family. Students will take these interactions to the next level each year in school.
