My Project

This project is for students at our school located in Kansas City, Missouri. Many of my students are refugees from other countries and have recently immigrated to America. These students do not have money to buy extra things for themselves. This year, I teach two classes of Ceramics/Sculpture with over sixty students, and I teach 4 classes of Foundations of art with over 130 students.

I have a small yearly budget to get art supplies, but it is not enough to buy all of the other stuff that is needed to make a classroom ready for students.

This project will provide 3 new shelving units so that I can re-arrange my classroom. These units will be used so that students can put their art and sculpture social justice projects on them. Students engineer 3D projects with wire and plaster. These project themes based off of social justice issues they are interested in: Science and art, the importance of protecting the environment, environmental justice and human rights are just a few of them. There are also plastic boxes in the project, so that we can get more organized. Lastly, we've asked for some other items to be used during my art classes.
