These supplies allowed them to learn about the process of photography. This is a new class at my high school. Everything I have in this class is because of generous donors like you. For the last 2 years, I've been trying to teach this class without a textbook. When I found this textbook, I knew that it would be the exact thing that students could use to learn how to edit and learn about the different parts of a manual digital SLR camera. We've already used it so much. Two weeks ago, we used the books to learn about the different parts of the camera. Students had to draw out their own cameras and learn each part. Then, last week, students learned about tips when taking photos, the do's and don'ts of photography. This week, we are starting the editing process. Next month, we will learn about the exposure triangle and how that impacts their photographs. I'm so excited that I now have a curriculum to work from. \r\nThese books will allow my students to truely learn how to use a DSLR camera. THen, we used the developing paper and the red lights to make a red light room in my kiln closet. Students learned about the importance of how to load the paper and then went into the hallway and tried out their very own homemade camera. Students then had to troubleshoot why the pinhole worked or didn't work. \r\nThese supplies allowed them to do something that they never would have been able to do in a digital photography classroom. They had to problem solve and create something from scratch. It was a very great project. They used the paints to create some really fun projects. Also, next quarter, my Foundations of Art Students will use the paints to help them learn about color theory. There are pictures of art club students work and pictures wooden Identity sculptures from ceramics class. Students created the project from wood scraps cut in our woodshop.
