Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My inquisitive hardworking 5th graders attend a large public elementary school in the South Bronx. Many of my students live in temporary homes, are in foster care, or live in multi-family apartment homes. My students are all below grade level with a wide range of skills.
Despite any hardships that they face out of school, my students are genuinely excited to learn.
They are full of enthusiasm and a love for learning. As their teacher I want to provide them with the tools and experiences that they need to be successful in life.
My Project
With summer in full gear, the beginning of the next school year is close by. This means that classroom supplies such as: pencils, papers, markers, notebooks, folders, tissues, and wipes need to be restocked.
Each year, I watch as parents struggle financially to purchase the necessary supplies that their child needs for the school year.
In order to begin the school year on a positive note, it is important that my students have the supplies that they need,whether or not their parents are able to provide them with them. The supplies in this project will help ease the financial burden placed on parents at the start of each school year.
