I am a second year teacher at a wonderful elementary school. I want to reach each and every student to find out what they want, and more importantly, need, to succeed.
I want to give access and availability to my students by exposing them to what they have not yet realized is out there, or use what what might be laying around to have the exact same effect.
Enriching their lives can be done in so many ways, and that is why I love DonorsChoose.org and the donors that help make our kids' future brighter.
The is a Title 1 school in a rural community, but the students' minds and abilities are as capable and reaching as the students that are able to attend the finest private schools in the world.
My Project
All of these items are greatly needed this upcoming school year. My classroom is becoming self-contained, so I am needed to prepare for a room that will now teach math, science, and social studies. I am so excited to tackle these subjects, I just want to be fully prepared!
Using highlighters and dry erase markers on anything laminated has been proven a success!
My students last year loved the "fun" writing with the dry erase markers on desks or charts that are laminated and I am able to quickly assess their work. The highlighters really help each student focus on the most important sentence or idea or detail on their sheet or passage.
The colored paper is used weekly, if not daily, to send home important information to parents. This is to get their attention. I also use the colored paper to print invaluable sheets to have laminated for long-time use.
The paper and ink is an obvious need. I print out hand-outs, study guides, and self-created worksheets for my students and this is a great and important need.
