This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My wonderful group of ESOL students love to learn and are willing to learn even though their last couple of years have been turned upside down by COVID. Most don’t even know what a “normal” school year looks like.
Over ninety-five percent of our students receive free or reduced-price lunches, the highest percentage in our district.
They come to me at many different levels. They come from diverse backgrounds with different family dynamics. Some of my students are new to America and are trying to learn their way along with every other challenge they face.
My students, no matter the level or circumstances, are always willing to learn and apply themselves to the activity or assignment. I want to be able to reward them for the hard work they do in my classroom.
I am here to bring FUN back to learning. I want to provide my students with a new classroom experience. It will be a fun way to start the 2024-2025 school year. I would also like to update my treasure box with more Montessori treasures. Students will have to achieve different goals, specific to the individual student and subject, to earn a treasure. This will hold their engagement and support student achievement.
The need to motivate my students never stops for me. I want my students to know I support their academics in all ways. I want to show them by gifting them these prizes. They must earn their reward, but that's the easy part because they are so willing to learn the material taught. They will be beyond excited to have new and different incentives for our treasure box. Every time I refresh my treasure, I try to get new sets of prizes. Keeping it new will keep students interested in earning the prices.
