My Students

My classroom is full of wonderful high school students excited to learn important life skills such as cooking. I have 9th-12th graders in three sections of Nutrition and Wellness and one section of Culinary Essentials. The students learn through labs using teamwork. They learn how to read recipes and create meals on their own. We start with the basics and then try to master some more complex skills as the semester progresses.

The students love the hands-on learning that cooking labs provide.

My classroom is always full of students and energy, especially on lab days. I am very lucky to have such great students in my classroom every year.

My Project

I was very lucky to be able to add a new class this year called Culinary Essentials at our high school. I have quickly realized that I do not have enough fridge space to make some of the recipes I had intended. I want to get a larger fridge so my students can create recipes that take more than one day, make yeast bread, and so much more!

I really want my students to leave my classroom with important life skills and be able to prepare recipes that they are proud of!

Having more fridge space will give my classroom more flexibility to create great food.
