My Students

I am a general education teacher in a second-grade classroom in the Bronx, New York. My students are hard-working, smart, energetic, and unique! They are a diverse group of learners with a range of needs and interests. Please help give my students the tools to help them have an awesome year.

My Project

As we begin to start our new unit of ELA on non-fiction books, I want to give my students a new mentor text. My students have a love for reading fiction books and I want to expand their love for reading into non-fiction books as well.

Having a class set of "National Geographic Elephants!" will help give my students a guide to help them learn about different non-fiction text features.

My students love elephants and will love learning about how we can use our knowledge of non-fiction text features to help gain more information about a topic.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
