New Math&Literacy Resources for New Learners in the New Year!
Help me give my students math games for math centers, phonics and writing student resources, and nonfiction leveled books to add to our classroom library!
“I’m a champion! You’re a champion! We build champions!” This school wide chant, inspired by Rita Pierson, is one that teachers and students truly believe in at our school! Each student, teacher, and staff member plays a very important role in building up our community of champions! We believe that through positive relationships and rigorous academics, our students are able to best be prepared for college, career, and life. These principles and beliefs are instilled in each and every one of our students starting in kindergarten! Our school serves students in grades K-5 and provides top-notch academics, has thoughtful teachers, and a safe, fun, and inspiring learning environment. As a result, we are consistently one of the top-performing schools in the state each year.
There are 20 fantastic, curious, intuitive students in our kindergarten class!
Many of them come from bilingual households and bring a rich and unique culture to our classroom community.
My Project
The sound of the low hum and chatter in a classroom is music to a teacher's ears. This is the sound of learning, collaboration, critical thinking, engagement, academic discussion, making sense of and creating personal connections to learning! It is a space where the teacher gets to come along side learners and meet them where they are and push them to new depths! A space where student to student teaching and learning is happening! This space is a creative and rich learning space. I believe that the listed math and literacy resources will abundantly enhance our learning environment.
They will continue to boost the recipe for success in our new learners; engagement, passion, fun, independence, ownership.
The math and literacy games will create a fun learning space for my scholars, a collaborative learning space, and a productive learning space.
The nonfiction leveled books will allow our new learners to explore places, animals, cultures, and concepts. The books will open doors and instill fresh wonderings, curiosities, and questions. My dream is to have a classroom library full of high quality reading materials. One that is intentional about every single book that has a spot on the shelf.
