My students need a pencil sharpener and new doll house furniture and families. We revamped an old wooden book shelf into a giant dollhouse, complete with carpet and wallpaper.
We have officially moved into our brand new building! We have waited so many years to finally have a place to call our own. After the 2011 tornado that devastated our community, we were placed in FEMA trailers that eventually become unfit for habitation. We were then placed in an abandoned elementary school. Our new school was just finished in March of 2018. We spent two days packing up all of our belongings and moved our boxes to the new school. Now we are unpacking everything, and we are very anxious to have our students come back to start class in a brand new school.
We serve preschool students with a wide variety of special needs.
Now that we have moved into our brand new school, we are in need of new materials. Many of our favorite toys and materials were broken or had parts missing and it was time to throw them away. We use many manipulatives and hands-on materials to help our students learn to be independent and ready for the next stage of their learning career.
My Project
My students enjoy playing pretend with a giant dollhouse we made from an old wooden book shelf. Unfortunately, pieces of the furniture have broken or were lost, so we need more dollhouse furniture. We also need more families in the dollhouse that better reflect our students' ethnic backgrounds. This encourages better language development and allows multiple children to play at one time.
Our children deserve new materials to accompany their brand new school including a new pencil sharpener.
We tried to purge many items that were broken or had lost pieces to make our move to the brand new building easier. Our students will be so excited to play with these new materials!
