My Project

My students come to science class with a wide range of strengths, needs, and access to resources outside of school. While they are all curious and eager to learn, not all of them have equal access to technology at home. This creates a gap in opportunities to research, explore, and fully engage with the kind of learning that science demands. In our classroom, I strive to ensure that every student has what they need to succeed, but limited access to devices makes that goal difficult to achieve.

Providing laptops for my students is an important step toward creating a more equitable learning environment.

With consistent access to technology in the classroom, all students will be able to participate in research, analyze information, and communicate their thinking without barriers. They will not have to rely on shared devices or miss out on opportunities due to limited access. Instead, every student will have the chance to fully engage in meaningful scientific work.

In science, students learn best by doing. Laptops will allow them to document their observations, create models, and explain their thinking in ways that honor different learning styles and abilities. Students who need additional language supports will be able to use translation tools and visuals. Students who benefit from auditory supports can access text to speech features. Those who are ready for extension can dive deeper into research and independent inquiry. This ensures that all learners, regardless of background or ability, can access rigorous, grade level content.

Equity in education means giving every student what they need to thrive, not just the same resources. These laptops will help level the playing field in my classroom by ensuring that all students have access to the tools necessary to think critically, collaborate with peers, and see themselves as scientists.
