My Students
My school is comprised of 90% of students receiving free and reduced-price lunch and 32% English Language Learners. It is located in a small urban town in middle Tennessee. The students at my school are from low-income families that would not be able to provide an instrument for their child or the opportunity to learn to play an instrument outside of school music class.
The use of keyboards in the music classroom would bring excitement for the students.
The students love music class, and would benefit from the chance to use keyboards to apply what they are learning.
My Project
Many of my students will not have the opportunity to play an instrument or take music lessons outside of the school. It is difficult for a student to imagine turning notes on paper into music. These keyboards could open up an amazing new world for my students.
New personal keyboards would give my students the opportunity to experience making music instead of just listening.
A student using the keyboard to make music could discover a new passion.
I would love for my students to have the ability to try out the theories and information that I am covering in class as opposed to simply discussing them or watching someone else. These keyboards could change the world for some of my students.
