As one of the largest elementary schools in the county, our school serves over 850 Pre-K to 4th grade students. Our population is among the most diverse in the county with a minority population of 75%.
My particular class includes students with different types of learning challenges and gifts.
Our classroom is full of diversity of learning styles and needs.
The poverty rate for our school is 88%. We are a Title I school, based on an economically disadvantaged population, and all students receive free lunch and breakfast.
My Project
I will be leaving 2nd grade and moving on up to 4th grade this coming August. I am so excited for the big jump and want to create the best possible environment for my students! Flexible seating and an engaging learning environment will help motivate my students for success!
My plan for the chalkboard paper is to create a "Genius Wonder Wall" where students will have the opportunity to write questions they have or wonderings, and if answered, the answers!
The students will be responsible for finding those answers since inquiry is important in the classroom! Brick paper gives a more homey/engaging environment so students are surrounded by white center block walls every day. The high top table is to create more of a flexible seating environment for student's choice of seating. Having a range of seating options in the classroom also makes it a more comfortable yet motivating environment.
