This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Some of our students come from high poverty, low socioeconomic backgrounds. All of our students qualify for government assistance through the federal free lunch program. Our students love to come to school and play sports and deserve the opportunity to do so. A lot of schools have dues that they pay. They use that to purchase each student team gear. We are not that fortunate. Over the past few years our gear starts to come apart.
Our game day compressions are on their last thread!
They have served us well and help make us look and feel like a team with matching gear for the whole squad, but it is time for some new ones! This gear will help keep their mind at ease knowing they can suit up for games or for 7 on 7s in the most current gear out there just like the other teams that we compete against who are fortunate enough to have their booster club pay for it all or pay for it themselves.
We want our kids to show up with no worries about what they are going to wear to compete and focus on their studies and what they have to accomplish to get a win on Friday nights!
