My students need a new drum set so that we have a functional set for gigs and performances.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
With 78% of the student populous on free and reduced lunch at our school, many of our students cannot afford to purchase or own their own instruments to participate in the band classes offered at our school.
The demographics at our school are primarily middle to lower class minority families.
Many of the students' parents work multiple jobs to support their families. In the band program, there are numerous students who have part time jobs to help support their families and pay for all the extra curricular activities they partake in at school. The school is a Title I school with 78% of our students receiving free or reduced lunch.
My Project
Currently, the drum set we own is gorilla taped together. There are parts from other drum sets on it because there are no funds to replaced broken parts or get a new set. Being able to purchase a new drum set would give the students a working instrument to practice and perform on. We would be able to not only use this in jazz band but also in concert band, choir, and pep band when necessary.
Having a functional drum set will impact my students greatly because it will give them the opportunity to practice and perform with the rest of the group.
It will also give them pride to have something new to perform on.
