My high school students were absolutely thrilled to receive their sketchbooks and have the chance to use their special markers in class. They are not used to being on the receiving end of such a gift epically at the high school level. It truly has made a huge impact on their outlook to know that someone appreciates them and is willing to give a gift that they can use and keep for a life time! Sketchbooks offer a safe space for self-expression, journals and drawing practice. My students surpassed my expectations by redesigning the covers, creating multi media masterpieces and sharing their work with each other. \r\nThese are materials that are beyond my budget and it was a thrill for all of us to open the boxes and unwrap the sketchbooks. I have a handful of students who are struggling with their mental health and coming to school is very challenging. This sketchbook creates the perfect uplifting and exciting platform where they can practice, sketch and catch up on their work at home. Next I'm taking them outside to draw landscapes. I know they'll be happy to get some fresh air and feel the warm morning breeze on their face while they draw trees, birds and structures. You're gift has touched many beyond anything I could write in words.","fullyFundedDate":1769178232479,"projectUrl":"project/art-on-the-go-for-advance-drawing-class/9871817/","projectTitle":"Art on the Go for Advance Drawing Class","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kelly","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8651499_orig.jpg?crop=1920,1920,x0,y320&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1675706309256","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8651499"},{"teacherId":8390661,"projectId":9877320,"letterContent":"When the students first saw the standing whiteboards being set up, the reaction was immediate. One student actually asked, \"Wait, are we allowed to stand up and write on the walls now?\" The novelty of leaving their desks behind turned a standard Tuesday morning into something that felt like a special event. There was a flurry of activity as they tested the markers and were amazed by how easy it was to wipe away mistakes and start fresh.\r\n\r\nWe recently used the boards for a complex problem-solving session in math. Instead of being hunched over individual papers, students worked in small groups at their own boards. I watched two students who usually struggle with confidence engage in a heated but healthy debate about a geometry proof. Because the board was vertical and visible to their peers, they started using their whole bodies to explain their logic, pointing and drawing auxiliary lines. It turned an ordinary and solitary task into a dynamic, social performance of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1768258563172,"projectUrl":"project/think-on-your-feet/9877320/","projectTitle":"Think On Your Feet","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Padilla","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8390661_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1753312231097","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/dvhs-padilla"},{"teacherId":8572986,"projectId":9673307,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your donation!\r\n\r\nThe students had a wonderful time practicing their English through the interactive games. This has allowed students to practice with dry erase markers before completing tasks independently, giving them extra confidence and support.\r\n\r\nIn addition, our class has been practicing summarization through one-pagers, which has been highly interactive and especially beneficial for our English Language Learners. The colored pencils have allowed students to create visual representations of vocabulary and key concepts, leading to better comprehension and deeper application of their learning.\r\n\r\nThank you, thank you! The inspirational math posters do more than just cover empty wall space; they've shifted the \"vibe\" from one of intimidation to one of possibility. Instead of students staring at a blank wall when they're stuck, they look up and see reminders that struggle is just part of the process. It has turned the room into a place where it's okay to be a \"work in progress,\" and you can almost feel the collective sigh of relief when students realize that perfection isn't the goal—persistence is.\r\n\r\nThe real magic, though, happens in how the room now moves and breathes. By moving desks out of rigid rows and getting organization materials into place, you've cut through the daily friction that usually eats up class time. There's a new sense of flow; students aren't tripping over clutter or trapped in isolated pods. They're sliding their desks together to tackle a tough problem or grabbing what they need from a labeled bin without having to ask for permission. This setup tells them that their comfort and their time matter, turning a standard school day into a more collaborative, human experience where they actually feel empowered to take charge of their own learning.","fullyFundedDate":1769178228907,"projectUrl":"project/inspiration-math/9891744/","projectTitle":"Inspiration Math","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Dominguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8650062_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1769051355189","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8650062"},{"teacherId":8641557,"projectId":9793040,"letterContent":"Thank you for your incredible generosity in providing copies of The Hunger Games to our classroom. Your support has transformed our literacy block into the most anticipated part of the school day.\r\n\r\nWhile many enjoy this novel as a thrilling survival story, it serves as a powerful tool for teaching critical media literacy and literary analysis. Students are currently exploring how Suzanne Collins uses first-person perspective to create empathy and how the \"Games\" themselves serve as an allegory for societal inequality and the consequences of unchecked power. We are also utilizing the text to strengthen argumentative writing skills, as students must cite textual evidence to debate the moral choices made by Katniss Everdeen.\r\n\r\nIn our room, reading is a dynamic, social experience. We often begin with Socratic Seminars, where students lead discussions on the ethical dilemmas presented in the chapters. You will often see students in small \"Tribute Circles\" (lit circles) mapping out the geography of Panem or participating in close-reading exercises where they dissect the symbolism of the Mockingjay pin.\r\n\r\nThis project has been especially impactful for my reluctant readers. I have seen students who previously struggled to finish a single chapter now racing ahead because they are so invested in the high-stakes plot. One student, who typically finds it difficult to engage with traditional classics, told me, \"This is the first time a book has felt like it was written for my world.\" Your gift has bridged the gap between \"required reading\" and a genuine love for storytelling.\r\n\r\nThank you for investing in my students' growth and for proving that a great book can change the energy of an entire classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1762994770264,"projectUrl":"project/the-gift-of-literature/9793040/","projectTitle":"The Gift of Literature!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lara","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8641557_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661822747252","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8641557"},{"teacherId":8371098,"projectId":7228460,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generosity, my students are using these new resources every day to strengthen their learning.
