My Students

North Side is a wonderful school community with an emphasis on the whole student. Our library is a location where students come once a week for class as well as getting a library book. This year, due to Covid-19 and budget issues, we didn't have a book budget to expand our library collection. Our collection needs more books and resources that represent our diverse student body as well as new high-interest books.

My students have a thirst for learning and reading that will only grow through access to current and diverse books and resources.

My Project

These books will have a great impact our out student population and their learning. Not only will they have access to newer books, but they will be able to see themselves in the books. Students that see representation of their culture feel more at home in a space and our school environment.

Studies across multiple countries are finding that reading ability is one of the greatest predictors of future success, specifically engaged reading.

These books will help to engage our students in reading and succeeding. Our population has a varied background and this will help everyone to find themselves in the stories and grow as readers and learners.
