New Classroom, New Strategies!

Help me give my students individual white boards to use for practicing translation exercises. We can use them in small group settings or as a class for review, class exercises, or class competitions.

My Students

My 70 high school Latin students missed 5 weeks of school this year due to Hurricane Michael. As you can guess we are also behind in our curriculum. Because of damage to my building, we were relocated are now sharing a large classroom with an English teacher. The area of our room lacks any whiteboards or chalkboards on the walls.

All of these students are receiving free breakfast and lunch because we live in Panama City, Florida and our Title I school is located in a low income area that was virtually destroyed by Hurricane Michael.

Many of these students lost their homes and belongings, have been forced to move, share homes with relatives or friends, or are living in damaged homes. Much of our area still lacks internet access.

My Project

Since our new classroom has no white boards or chalk boards on the walls, the individual white boards will allow all students to participate in classroom activities.

White board activities will allow me to see instantly which students grasp concepts and which students need further instruction.

The dry erase boards will also save paper. Dry erase boards can be used in whole group instruction, small guided groups, and learning centers.

Finally, the students will find the dry erase board activities fun and non-threatening; there is no learning curve with this low-tech technology. Just a white board, marker, eraser and learning begins!
