My Project

A great book can spark a conversation that stays with students long after the last page. I am requesting class sets of “Restart” and “The Unteachables” by Gordon Korman to give every student a copy to use during our whole-class novel studies.

These books offer humor and meaningful opportunities to discuss empathy, belonging, choices, and second chances.

Through reading, writing, and student-led discussions, we will explore how characters change, how assumptions affect relationships, and how people can learn from mistakes.

Having a book in every student’s hands will allow students to follow along, reread important passages, and find evidence to support their thinking. We will practice identifying themes, comparing perspectives, developing vocabulary, and respectfully building on one another’s ideas.

My goal is for students to grow in both reading confidence and compassion. Your donation will help us turn two engaging novels into shared experiences that encourage thoughtful conversations and a lasting love of reading. These books will also support future classes of fifth-grade readers!
