This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
These students are even smarter than they thought they were! I just started teaching Algebra 1 to my class of 8th grade students after starting the year with Pre-Algebra. They are ready for a new challenge and need new calculators!
My students attend a public charter school in a high-needs area of Indiana.
The majority of my students receive free or reduced lunch and face numerous challenges outside of school. That said, they are motivated to earn an outstanding mathematics education and I am working hard to provide them that. I started the year teaching my 8th grade students Pre-Algebra, but quickly decided they were ready for Algebra 1. Now they are excited about the challenge of the new class!
My Project
My students need scientific calculators for their Algebra 1 class. Most cannot afford to purchase their own that they will be able to use at home when they are working on homework. As such, I am hoping to get a full classroom set that I can give to them to work with both inside and outside of school. I know that they will be excited to receive this technology.
My students need to feel that they have all of the resources they need to be successful in Algebra 1 this year.
Please support our classroom and help to provide them with this essential tool in the mathematics classroom.
