My Students

My students are an eager and positive group of learners that come from a wide range of backgrounds with a wide range of abilities. We like to work hard, laugh, and stretch our minds, and I'm always looking for new ways to push their thinking.

The diversity in their strengths and interests make for a rewarding school day and really keeps me on my toes.

Their energy and enthusiasm motivate me to make this their most rewarding and successful school year yet.

My Project

Now that we are a quarter of the way through the school year, I have a better sense of my students' needs and their unique interests as readers. Their reading attitudes are quickly improving, and most are now devouring books at an impressive rate. Of course, this impressive rate of reading means we need books. A lot of books.

These 50 books will provide the perfect infusion of excitement and variety in order to maintain my students' enthusiasm for reading during the winter months.

By waiting until now to request these books, I was able to carefully match multiple titles to each one of my students. Within this wide-ranging collection are books about eels, ancient mythology, Civil War medical practices, women that glow in the dark, a 4th wall-breaking superhero, a girl trying to deliver medicine during a pandemic, Baba Yaga, and even cake. Yes, I picked out two cookbooks for our aspiring chefs. There are so many great titles in this collection. I cannot wait to share all these books with my class. My students will be so excited!
