I teach the best bunch of middle schoolers. They come from many different types of families and experiences. A lot of my students come to school to escape their home lives. I hope that my classroom is a safe haven for all my seventh and eighth graders. I look forward to greeting them every morning to show them that I'm so excited to see them! I'll never understand why people cringe when I tell them I teach middle school because I love it!
My Project
I work at a low income school and a lot of my students don’t have access to books. Most students at other schools, can escape this by going to their school library and checking out popular titles. Unfortunately, my school has consolidated their library. The library now services the elementary, middle, and high school. As a result, the library lacks a lot of the new and engaging books that my kiddos would be interested in.
I work really hard to have a classroom library that has many different types of books for kids to get excited about.
I have spent a lot of my own money buying books for my classroom. I spend time at thrift stores and going to garage sales to add to my classroom library. I've reached out to friends and family members asking for donations. I do this in hopes that I can surround my students with books. The books on this list are books that students have picked out themselves! I hope they have the opportunity to read them.
