My Students

I teach at a rural, public high school, grades ten to twelve. With an interesting mix of socio-economic backgrounds, the students who attend our school come from several small communities around the area where operating orchards and farming are a way of life. The traditional values that have long been thought to be part of this lifestyle have led to a close-knit student body who are known throughout the district for their vocal and supportive student section at athletic events.

As every teacher does, I want to share the gift of literature with my students.

We have many students who could greatly benefit from increased literacy. We have many students who don't have access to books at home. We have many students who just love a good story. I hope to reach all of them.

My Project

English teachers always need more books, and these books will be accessible to all of the students I teach. There's nothing quite like watching a student get excited about a beautiful new book, and these books will allow all of my students to broaden their horizons.

I assign a book project that is due at the end of each term, but students don't always have access to books that qualify for that project.

I've chosen books that will meet the requirements and allow my students to pick a book right off my own shelves that will open the world of classic literature to them as well as offering a chance to experience modern masterpieces.
