Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love reading and enjoy our classroom library, however, the choices for early/beginning readers are limited. I want my students to have an array of choices of books to choose from that will motivate them to learn more regardless of their reading level.

I teach second graders and for many of them, English is their second language.

They are very eager to learn! Our school is a Title I school and many of our families do not have books of their own at home. Students and families rely on our classroom libraries and school library for great literature!

My Project

The new books will go into our classroom library right away for students to get their hands on them! The books will be sorted by theme and reading level and students will be free to choose books that are at their level and that catch their interest. They will also be used for teacher read alouds, science projects, math lessons, and literature studies.

New books are absolutely the best gift for a classroom!

These books would enrich our classroom and would get my students excited to learn about new topics, share their learning with others, and motivate them to want to read more.
